Background:
I started shooting events and
weddings professionally back in the 90's, in my hometown of
Norfolk, VA. I studied traditional photography in high
school, and then at community college--when digital
photography was making it's debut. When I moved to NYC in
2002 I became more interested in portraits and nightlife.
After obtaining a BA from the School of Visual Arts in
2005, I began working for Steven Klein until 2007. I currently work as a
diverse freelance photographer, shooting all kinds of
events, as well as fine art and commercial
photography.
What I enjoy most is interacting with people; capturing
life moments, and expressing them from my point of view.
Approach:
My approach to creating
images is very much in the present. I have a strong sense
of my surroundings and what is appropriate for each
situation. I feel the overall vibe, connect with the
subject(s) and begin the creative process. There is no set
formula or method, just whatever works for that moment. My
aesthetic style is photo journalistic, refined with a
strong fashion sense.
Experience:
Every shoot I am involved
with provides beneficial insight that I apply towards my
cumulative vision. I've worked on low and high budget jobs,
in the most interesting and challenging locations from
Nicaragua to Nepal. Being a photographer provides me with
opportunities to work in the music and entertainment
industries, with society and culture, fashion, sports and
recreation, and the fine art gallery world. I am truly
blessed to work among extremely talented, creative
professionals who inspire me in so many ways.
